General investments
Up to 30% bonus on your investments
Are you creating, developing or relocating your business to the Brussels-Capital Region ?
The purchase of equipment, the fitting out of your premises, the carrying out of works or the acquisition of a professional building may, under certain conditions, benefit from a regional grant.
SUBSIDIM analyzes your project, verifies your eligibility and takes care of your subsidy application until the payment of the grant.
Which investments are eligible for subsidies?
The general investment grant can be used in the context of the creation or development of an economic activity in Brussels.
It concerns two main categories of investments.
Equipment and work
The bonus may include, in particular:
-
professional furniture;
-
machines and equipment;
-
production equipment;
-
computer hardware and equipment;
-
professional tools;
-
the fitting out of a shop, restaurant, workshop or offices;
-
renovation or conversion work;
-
the technical facilities necessary for the activity.
To be admitted, investments must in particular be necessary for the activity of the company, be operated in the Brussels-Capital Region and be recorded among its fixed assets.
Investments intended to create or develop a business are given priority. Simply replacing existing equipment or covering routine expenses generally does not qualify for the grant.
Acquisition of a commercial building
The purchase of a building or land intended for business activity may also be eligible for a bonus.
Real estate investment should, in particular, enable:
-
the creation of a new establishment;
-
the company's relocation;
-
the opening of an additional establishment unit;
-
or the acquisition of a building previously leased by the company.
The property must be used for the company's business activities. A real estate investment primarily intended for rental is, in principle, not eligible.
How much can your company receive?
The premium rate depends in particular on:
-
the size of the company;
-
of its seniority;
-
of the location of the investment;
-
of its potential social exemplarity;
-
of its potential environmental exemplarity;
-
and the nature of the project.
For equipment and works, the intervention can reach 20% of eligible expenses outside the development zone and 30% when the investment is made in this zone, for a micro or small enterprise.
For a property acquisition, the bonus can reach 10% outside the development zone and 20% in the development zone, for a micro or small business.
Each project requires a personalized analysis. The theoretical sum of the increases does not allow for exceeding the regulatory limits.
What is the minimum amount you need to invest?
For equipment purchases and works, the investment program must reach a minimum of:
-
€5,000 excluding VAT for a start-up company less than four years old;
-
€7,500 excluding VAT for a micro-enterprise that has been in existence for more than four years;
-
€15,000 excluding VAT for a small business that has been in operation for more than four years;
-
€50,000 excluding VAT for an middle-size company over four years old.
For the acquisition of a building or land for professional use, the investment must reach a minimum of €100,000 excluding VAT.
Which companies are eligible for the bonus?
The grant is aimed at SMEs that have at least one establishment unit in the Brussels-Capital Region and carry out an economic activity in an eligible sector.
Eligibility therefore does not depend solely on the project. The NACE code, the size of the company, its financial situation, its location and compliance with various regulatory obligations must also be verified.
A non-profit organization engaged in economic and commercial activity may also be eligible under certain conditions.
One essential rule : submit the application before starting
The chronology of the case is crucial.
The application for prior authorization must be submitted before the start of the investment program.
Before submitting the application and receiving the required acknowledgement of receipt, you must not, in particular:
-
sign a quote;
-
sign a purchase order;
-
pay a deposit;
-
receive an invoice;
-
begin the work.
For a real estate acquisition, the application must be submitted before the signing of the purchase agreement.
Taking action too late can render the entire project inadmissible, even if the company and investments meet the other conditions.
